Danni & Richard’s Wedding at Kingswood Golf Club

Apologies to one and all for yet again failing so badly in 2013 with the upkeep of the blog!

Old habits die hard as they say…

So, a new year, and a new resolution to try harder here in 2014!

I thought that I’d kick off with the back-log of weddings from as far back as a couple of years – starting here with the wedding of Dani & Richard at the lovely Kingswood Golf Club.

Here are some of the shots from their big day…

Vicky & Elliott’s Wedding at Chiltern Church and The Grange

After meeting Vicky and Elliott at a wedding fayre, I immediately knew that they would be one of those extremely photogenic couples.

Add to that the bonus that they were to be wed at the chocolate box Chiltern Church in Sutton, and a reception at the lovely The Grange in Beddington Park, meant that we were guaranteed to get some cracking shots!

This was a first for me capturing a wedding at Chiltern Church.  It is not your conventional church, but it is a very picturesque place of worship which lends itself greatly as a romantic backdrop for a wedding.

Any of you who know The Grange, will know that it’s situated in Beddington Park, and is surrounded by lots well maintained flower beds and other natural beauty, all providing many options and vibrant colours for photos.

It was a cracking wedding, and we did indeed capture lots of amazing shots throughout at both venues.  It was an absolute pleasure, and Vicky and Elliott were both great and so relaxed which always help.

You can view a nice array of some of the shots from their day here below:

Lisa & Mike’s Wedding at Morden Park Registry Office, Morden, Surrey

Lisa and Mike’s wedding at Morden Park Registry Office was a very intimate affair.

They had planned a small, but very personal wedding that would be witnessed by their nearest and most dearest.

I’ve shot many weddings at Morden Park, and it’s a place that I know very well.

Whilst it is a Registry Office, many people think you’ll be restricted for photographs after the ceremony. Whilst this might be the case for some other Registry Offices, that is never a problem at Morden.

Firstly, the building itself is lovely, and it has a tasteful staircase inside that is the focal point of many a portrait for any wedding that is conducted there. Secondly, the Registry Office hugely benefits from being based in a Park, so there is a big wide, open green space that surrounds the location – a versatile backdrop to quickly navigate the bride and groom off to for some formal portraits.

Naturally, this was no different, and the weather was kind to us so we captured a nice mix of the two.

When you shoot a smaller wedding, it’s always a pleasure, as you’re working with a smaller congregation of family and friends, so the day does tend to have that ‘relaxed’ and intimate feel about it. Also from my own point of view, I get to interact and get to know some of the guests that little bit more through having a larger exposure to them.

There certainly were some characters at Lisa and Mike’s big day, most notably Jane the chief bridesmaid, she provided me with much banter and laughs throughout, it was great fun!

It was a lovely wedding, and you can see a selection of shots from their wedding here directly below…

Karen & Maz’s Wedding at The Hotel Du Vin, Brighton, West Sussex

Karen and Maz’s wedding was one that I had particularly been looking forward to – it took place in one of my favourite places – the wonderful Brighton.

I’ve always liked Brighton, it’s a cool, trendy and cosmopolitan kind of place, and with it being a coastal resort it naturally offers backdrops that aren’t accesible here in Surrey!

Karen & Maz’s venue, the Hotel du Vin in Ship Street certainly didn’t buck the Brighton trend – it was a very funky place to tie the knot, and I loved it’s styling and decor, it was different, it was certainly very cool indeed.

As soon as they’d told me they were getting wed in Brighton, naturally my first thoughts were, “Wow! Sea-front portraits – we must utilise such landmarks as the piers and the band-stand”.

Fortunately the Hotel du Vin is based near the sea front, so we had the perfect opportunity to cross over the road and capture some cool sea front portraits, although I will say that Karen and Maz were good sports as the walk to the band stand had been somewhat a little further than I had remembered it from a previous visit!

It was a fabulous wedding, full of such character and emotion.  I really enjoyed sharing their day with them, it was an absolute pleasure.

We got some fab shots throughout, of which I’ve included a selection here below…

Liz & Rob’s Wedding at The Star & Garter in Putney, London

Last summer was a pretty drab affair in general.

This sadly was no exception for the wedding of Liz and Rob who got married at the Star & Garter in Putney, London.

It was a soggy day, and the Gods certainly didn’t shine too brightly upon us, as it did pretty much rain the whole day without any respite!

There generally aren’t too many weddings where there isn’t some form of a break in the weather that will allow you to quickly nip back outside to steal some portraits before it decides to resume one again.

After Liz and Rob had concluded their ceremony in the beautifully old-fashioned ballroom upstairs in the Star & Garter, they then ventured outside and across the road to Putney Pier where they then boarded a river boat to kick start their reception drinks.

Whilst being on a river boat does limit you to a certain degree in regards to locations within the vessel, the one bonus was that our backdrop continually changed as we parolled the Thames, providing us with many iconic London landmarks to photograph against at our will.

Thankfully the rear of the boat had an open enclosure with a small roof which allowed us to capture some bridal portraits against such backdrops, whilst also providing Liz and Rob with some form of protection from the elements.

When the boat had then completed it’s circuit of the Thames, everyone then returned back to the Star & Garter for the remainder of the wedding reception and celebrations.

The weather was still relentless at this stage, and had curtailed my plans for us to capture some pre-planned shots along the river itself by foot, which was hugely frustrating.

However, Liz and Rob were good sports and donning an umbrella we managed to sneak outside for 5 minutes to capture at least a quick couple of portraits overlooking the river.

I’ve added a selection of images from the day below…
