A Wedding Thank You Card

Being a wedding photographer certainly has its pressures, but on the flip side it is an incredibly rewarding job giving couples something that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

It’s a lovely feeling knowing that your photos can bring so much joy and happiness to others.

Even more so, when a couple send you a thank-you card personally expressing their gratitude and how happy they are with their wedding photos.

I was lucky enough to receive such a card from one of my recent bride and grooms – Prisha & Graham, having recently captured their big day at The Grange last month.

It’s very touching and humbling, and I know that I’m fortunate to enjoy a job that can give you such fulfilment.

I’ve taken two snap shots of Prisha & Graham’s card here below 🙂

Victoria & Toby’s Wedding at Coverwood Lakes, Peaslake in Surrey

Victoria and Toby’s wedding was a stunning affair – set in one of the most beautiful backdrops that I have yet had the pleasure of photographing.

I hadn’t even been aware of Coverwood Lakes‘ existence prior to Victoria and Toby approaching me to capture their big day.

I’m sure that many of you reading this are probably just as likely to not be familiar with it either?

Basically, it’s private farm based in Peaslake, and it boasts a couple of beautiful lakes within it’s grounds.

The main lake, ironically is the smaller of the two, is surrounded by an amazing collection of trees and stunning gardens which frame it’s boundaries beautifully.

It also boasts a fabulous covered stone walkway, which provides another rich visual focal point within the grounds – this instantly struck me upon my initial visit as an amazing element that would provide some striking portraits.

The owners of the venue obviously realised that the location of the lake and the amazing surrounds would provide a perfect backdrop for a wedding/event reception, and so rather cleverly invested in their own stylish marquee which they erect when required to provide the facilities to house a party without compromising or detracting from the surrounds.

I was extremely impressed, and it was a delight to have had the opportunity to capture Victoria and Toby’s wedding there.

We were fortunate on the day with the weather – as to be fair that is the only potential concern of such a venue.  Whilst it did rain at certain points in the earlier part of the day, luckily it held firm in the latter stages of the afternoon and through into the evening so that one and all could truly enjoy the venue to it’s full capacity.

You can view a video slideshow of Victoria and Toby’s wedding here below, I’m sure you’ll agree with my comments, and I hope that it might help further expose this hidden gem for many other couples to enjoy 🙂

Vicky & Elliott’s Wedding at Chiltern Church and The Grange

After meeting Vicky and Elliott at a wedding fayre, I immediately knew that they would be one of those extremely photogenic couples.

Add to that the bonus that they were to be wed at the chocolate box Chiltern Church in Sutton, and a reception at the lovely The Grange in Beddington Park, meant that we were guaranteed to get some cracking shots!

This was a first for me capturing a wedding at Chiltern Church.  It is not your conventional church, but it is a very picturesque place of worship which lends itself greatly as a romantic backdrop for a wedding.

Any of you who know The Grange, will know that it’s situated in Beddington Park, and is surrounded by lots well maintained flower beds and other natural beauty, all providing many options and vibrant colours for photos.

It was a cracking wedding, and we did indeed capture lots of amazing shots throughout at both venues.  It was an absolute pleasure, and Vicky and Elliott were both great and so relaxed which always help.

You can view a nice array of some of the shots from their day here below:

Baby Abigail’s First Portrait Shoot

We recently had the pleasure of photographing baby Abigail’s first portrait session, along with both mum and dad.

Abigail was around four months old at the time, so we were able to get some shots of her sitting up and suporting her head whilst lying down on her tummy.

She did extremely well, and we got some fab photos.

You can view a handful of them here below…

Tash & Bob’s Wedding, The Gatwick Cambridge Hotel, Horley, Surrey

I initially met Tash and Bob at a wedding fair at the Gatwick Cambridge Hotel (Horley, Surrey) last year, of which consequently they then secured my services for their wedding which took place on Saturday 7th May 2011.

Both Tash and Bob had been previously married before, and not being huge fans of having their pictures taken informed me that they weren’t overly fussed about too many ‘posed’ images to be taken on their big day.

If anyone has ever been to the Cambridge Hotel, they will know that it unfortunately isn’t blessed with natural surrounds or an incredible amount of choice and variation for photographs within it’s grounds.

I’ve photographed there on many occasions, and I generally rely on securing images at the ceremony venue before the couple arrive at the Cambridge for their reception for this exact reason.

This sadly wasn’t possible on this occasion as Tash & Bob were having their ceremony conducted at the Cambridge itself as well as staging their reception there too – this naturally gave me a dilemma, and after much thought and conversation with Tash & Bob we agreed that we would literally pop down the road to an open natural site nearby in order to capture some nice bride and groom portraits within natural surrounds rather than be limited to the constraints that we were facing within the Cambridge.

All was arranged that after the ceremony, we would sneak off for approximately 30 minutes at the designated site for a handful of images, before then returning back to the reception to resume their celebrations.

However, things didn’t run to plan, and the wedding ceremony itself ran 30-40 minutes late due to a couple of hitches.  Being on a reasonably tight timeline this then in effect thwarted our opportunity to leave the hotel grounds, and as a result we then had no choice but to work within the restraints available to us.

Whilst I was disappointed for Tash & Bob that we weren’t going to be able to capture as beautiful pictures as I had intended, in all honesty they were not too upset and were happy to work within the limited resources.

There was a rather large collection of formal group shots requested, and this further ate into our Itinerary, and before we knew it we only were able to capture a handful of intimate bride & groom portraits.

Despite my disappointment of the restrictions on behalf of the couple, it still was an enjoyable wedding to photograph, and there were many characters who kept me amused throughout – including a calculated group ‘bundle’ on the bride and groom when they were sat on the floor posing for one of their portraits – I did manage to get a shot of this as it happened, and you’ll find it below amongst the other handful of images from the day!
