Vicky & Elliott’s Wedding at Chiltern Church and The Grange

After meeting Vicky and Elliott at a wedding fayre, I immediately knew that they would be one of those extremely photogenic couples.

Add to that the bonus that they were to be wed at the chocolate box Chiltern Church in Sutton, and a reception at the lovely The Grange in Beddington Park, meant that we were guaranteed to get some cracking shots!

This was a first for me capturing a wedding at Chiltern Church.  It is not your conventional church, but it is a very picturesque place of worship which lends itself greatly as a romantic backdrop for a wedding.

Any of you who know The Grange, will know that it’s situated in Beddington Park, and is surrounded by lots well maintained flower beds and other natural beauty, all providing many options and vibrant colours for photos.

It was a cracking wedding, and we did indeed capture lots of amazing shots throughout at both venues.  It was an absolute pleasure, and Vicky and Elliott were both great and so relaxed which always help.

You can view a nice array of some of the shots from their day here below:

Vicky & Stuart’s Wedding, Holy Cross Church in Carshalton & The Warren Sports Ground in Hayes

The wedding of Vicky and Stuart Truss proved to be a fabulous day – the weather was hot and the company was marvelous!  I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and despite being on a tight timeline, still managed to get a nice array of pictures throughout.

I started the day photographing the tail end of Vicky’s bridal preparations at her parents house in Carshalton.  The house was buzzing, which wasn’t surprising given the fact that Vicky has five sisters – it’s always great fun to be a passenger amongst during the excitement of the build-up, and there’s always plenty of photographic opportunities to capture emotional images of these special moments.

Having then recorded some of the preparations it was then onto Holy Cross Church further down the road (also in Carshalton) to meet up with Stuart the groom ahead of the ceremony.

The sun was in full flow, and it was a very warm day – which was great for the couple and all the guests, sadly not quite as good for me personally as I tend to melt whilst running around conducting my duties, plus in all honesty the harsh sunlight and it’s high positioning at that point in the day is an absolute nightmare for a photographer; it creates unflattering light and undesired shadows around the eye sockets on the face… anyhow I won’t bore you with the technicalities!

We grabbed a couple of groom and best men portraits before Stuart had to go into the church ahead of Vicky’s arrival.

At this point I should add that Vicky and Stuart had hired an old red London bus as a form of transportation for their guests, which I found very interesting, and I thought was a very nice touch as well as adding some character to the day.

Vicky arrived on time, and the ceremony went like clockwork, well almost, apart from the priest getting Vicky’s name wrong at one point (and didn’t even notice he’d got it wrong either) and also forgetting to give the couple permission to kiss after securing their vows, which left me at the back of the church lingering for some time in preparation – fortunately I stayed there as they then both took it upon themselves to have a kiss when he declared that the congregation should show each other  ‘a sign of peace’!  With the kiss shot in the bag, I was then able to resume normal service…

Following on from the service the reception was held at the Metropolitan Police’s Sports Ground, The Warren in Hayes.

This was a fitting venue, as both Vicky and Stuart work for the police force!

It also provided us with some great backdrops for the bride and groom portraits, and despite being pushed for time in the end following on from the formal group shots, we managed to capture a nice variety.

There was a fabulous policeman figurine post by a sheltered walkway, which made a fitting feature to capture a police themed portrait with the couple – I couldn’t resist – if you scroll down you’ll find it amongst the handful of images I’ve picked out from the day.

If anyone is interested, you can view the other images from the day here.
